People think health and wellness are one and the same.
But these terms have different meanings. The main difference between health and wellness is that health is the goal and wellness is the actual active and intentional process of being healthy and achieving it.
Health is a state of being free from diseases while wellness on the other hand is the overall harmony and balance of a person’s physical, spiritual, emotion, mental and social well-being.
Other factors are also environmental, financial and occupational.
If you constantly strive for balance in your life by carefully selecting your choices to make sure you are healthy and fulfilled means that you are practicing wellness – which gives off a directly positive influence on your overall health.
Health says:
“I’m not sick at all.”
Wellness says:
“I’m actively trying to eat well, move, & intentionally make time to relax.”
Health says:
“Physically, mentally, & socially - I am at my best state.”
Wellness says:
“I’m working on my emotions, my inner spirituality, my career, & so much more.”
Health says:
“My family has a history of diabetes.”
Wellness says:
“I make conscious efforts to control my risk factors.
Health says:
“I do regular check-ups with my doctors and therapists.”
Wellness says:

Health says:

Health is a state of being. Wellness is a way of living.
