Everything has a vibrational frequency – even ourselves. And everyone knows the benefit of sound in general – music helps us feel good and it makes our workouts easier.
Particular songs and types of music help us feel different emotions. Sound has been used in various cultures since the ancient times as an important tool for healing and communicating. From the Hindi’s mantras to medicine melodies of Central and South America’s indigenous people and so on, the main intention is to shift from imbalance to a place of balance.
Sound healing or therapy, which is an ancient healing technique that uses tonal frequencies is all about the balance.
How does sound healing work?
During a session, which can sometimes be called sound bath, you’ll lie down on the floor your yoga mat, and simply listen as a sound healer or practitioner plays a variety of instruments and you bask or bathe in the soothing, relaxing sounds and vibrations – a meditative acoustic sound concert.
The sound frequencies slow down our brain waves to its restorative state, and it activates the body’s natural system of healing. Our body is 75% water, and water is the perfect conductor for sound vibration. When vibrations travel through the body, it promotes circulation, energy flow, and rejuvenation.
Some of the tools used are voice, drumming, gongs, tuning forks and singing bowls.
Sound Healing is amazing for:
reducing stress
improving sleep
having fewer mood swings
encouraging healing
lowering blood pressure
Our mind, body, and soul always aims to be moving towards balance, but the daily grind has so much stimuli and noise pollution that we run out of time to take time for ourselves – preventing us from achieving a state of harmony. Sound healing is a perfect resource for inner peace.
